The Captains

Mark is a USCG accredited mariner and has over 30 years of marine experience on the Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans.  In addition, he has taught marine safety and survival for the Alaska Marine Safety and Education Association.  For the past ten years, he has been a trainer for  Alyeska's Ship Escort Response Vessel System (SERVS) in providing marine oil spill training to commercial fishermen throughout the region.   Mark has been published in Fish Alaska Magazine and the Alaska Sporting Journal.  In addition to holding a Masters degree in Business,  he holds a Bachelors degree in Fisheries from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.  During the off-season he is an Assistant Professor of Applied Business at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College.   Mark is a veteran of the the U.S. Army, and retired from the Alaska Air National guard in 2008 after 20 years of service.   His wife Sherry, is a fourth grade teacher at Eielson Air Foce Base.

Wesley, our  son, was born and raised in Alaska, and he is an Alaskan through and through.  Wes received his USCG 50 Ton Masters license a few years ago and jumped into running the boats feet first.  He is Valdez's youngest captain; however, he has spent over half of his life on Prince William Sound and in the Gulf of Alaska.   Wes is an awesome skipper and great with our guests.   He is currently in Idaho chasing his dream of becoming a professional helicopter pilot.
